Success?

I did it, but being me I'm not feeling 100% positive about it. The reason? I was a complete stress case! The afternoon was SO rushed. It was really hard getting everything done so that I had the rest time free to write. I hope I wasn't too crazed with the kids.

But it got done. I guess that's good.

I imagine the first few days will be hard - but I'm guessing that once they've figured out that mom is SERIOUS and isn't going to relent just because they've made it 'hard'. they will start to settle into a routine.

One thing that helped with my kids when they were little with things like this was to let them know from the very begining that any 'lolly gaging' would only make 'rest' longer. so when my little one would come pattering in asking for a drink because she's THIRSTING TO DEATH! I would look at my watch and say.. hmmm ok, but now you have to rest an extra minute (or some other appropriate amount)...

Also with the little guy who can't tell time as well - you might try a digital timer that way you can set it up to 'count down' until it's time to get up... That way no matter what 'time' it is when it's ok to get up... it will always be 00:00 to him :)

Good luck - I think down time is a good thing for kids as well as mom!

Thanks so much for the tips. :o) You sound like you have a lot of experience with this mom-thing. How old are your kids?

Actually, the kids did pretty well. I was the one who had a problem! There is just a lot to do after school and we were meeting my sister at the mall at 4:30, so there wasn't a lot of time to get it all done. But I really wanted to reserve rest time for writing, so I was running around like a crazy woman trying to finish up what I needed to do so that I could write while they were resting.

It worked out, but it was a little stressful. Someday (maybe?) I'll be more organized!

Thanks again!

ahh.. glad they cooperated then ;)

I have three children. They are (almost) 18, (almost) 15, and (just turned) 12.

(and yes I'm only 36)

seems like just yesterday I was trying to get them to settle for quiet time... wait, maybe that WAS yesterday!

;)

Yeah, I would guess things are still pretty lively at your house!

Thanks again!
